Private Ephesus Tour | History Only | No Shopping Stops

Our “history only” tour was literally the highlight of our trip to Turkey. Even though two couples cancelled out the day before, Mehmet, the owner, went on with our group of three rather than cancelling because we did not have the minimum of four people. BTW, two of us are history teachers, who knew some history of the area and were eager to learn more. We were delighted with the knowledge displayed by our guide Huseyin and his ability to answer all our questions in addition to providing insights into the multiple civilizations that have occupied the area of Ephesus. All three of us learned a lot. And, as promised, we did not deal with any pushy rug, ceramics, or merchants of any kind. We also arrived by train from Izmir which was very easy and were met at the station by Mehmet who is really a great communicator. All in all, a great day and worth every penny spent.

On our tour to Ephesus, Mehmet was a great driver and a better companion. He organized our trip in a way that allowed us to be the first visitors of the day at the House of Virgin Mary, and later he took us to Ephesus site and museum. We had lunch at an excellent place, true local food. Overall a great experience, very recommendable and skipping shopping visits.

Not being history buffs, our tour guide was great in giving us the background and context to be able to appreciate it all.

We had Mehet as our tour guide and he was fantastic! He did a great job of explaining the history of Ephesus and on going plans for further excavation and restoration work. We met him at the upper gate along with the owner of the company and breezed through the entrance with our Turkey Museum passes. Wwe beat all of the crowds and had the whole place to ourselves for the first 2 hours of the tour. He was patient and answered every question we asked. Nice sense of humor and very knowledgable about the history as well as his country. Would highly recommend him. Just a tour-- no carpets or any sort of retail sales pressure

At first I was in doubt of choosing this tour because of it being more expensive than others, but the promise of a well knowledgeable guide and no shopping offers convinced me to get a go. And it paid off a thousand times ! Our guide Metin was more of a history master sharing not only information, but many aspects of culture, city affairs and life style. Ephesus is an awesome place to visit, specially with the enhanced set of holistic information from "No Frills Ephesus" .
