Unforgettable Angkor Wat Sunrise: Small-Group Guided Tour

I was initially a bit hesitant to go to Angkor Wat due to the temple pass price but I'm really glad I decided to go with David! I chose the sunset tour where you get picked up around 9 and dropped back off at your accommodation by 19. While it was a long day and lots of walking and climbing stairs it passed surprisingly quickly. David kept a great balance between historical facts, fun facts and joked to keep everyone engaged and interested. Whenever you wanted to know more and had a question he had the answer to it. I also really appreciated how he included insights into Cambodia today (how school works, the political system,...). There were multiple bathroom breaks and a lunch break at a chosen restaurant (Takeo Khmer Food) with dishes from 5$ up. In total we went to 5 temples with the last one primarily being the spot to watch the sunset. In between you go by mini bus and have some time to briefly rest and get some more water. You get some time to roam by yourself in each temple (ranging from 10-60minutes) and David was also helping out with taking photos at certain spots. Overall a really great experience and I'm happy I did it!

Amazing experience. Even though the sun was hidden by a cloud we got to see the meteor shower while we waited for the sun to come up. Well worth getting up early for the best (actual) seat in the house. Recommend a camera stand if you want to film the sunrise steadily. The temples were incredible! Our guide Noy was great. He was very knowledgeable & very funny. Always laughing & smiling.....much like the smiling Buddha in the temples. Definitely would recommend this tour.

Really good tour. Starting early for the sunset. Mr T made sure we had perfect spots and got to the temples before the crowds. So photos became awesome. Very good day and mix of different temples. Also nice to see one that haven't been restored to get a feeling for how the other temples might have looked lile previously. Water provided throughout the tour and perfect lunch restaurant.

He was also thoughtful about timing and positioning, making sure we all had great photo opportunities without feeling rushed. Our driver ‘Michael Jackson’ kept us safe, on time, and comfortable. If it’s your first time visiting Angkor Wat, I highly recommend doing a sunrise tour like this—it adds depth, perspective, and a sense of ease to what can otherwise feel overwhelming, especially as a solo traveler.

Our sunrise tour of Angkor Wat and three nearby temples was an unforgettable experience. The day started early at 4:30 AM, and although the wake-up call was tough, it was absolutely worth it the moment we arrived. Watching the first light rise behind the towers of Angkor Wat was breathtaking — peaceful, magical, and something I’ll never forget. We continued on to explore three additional temples, each with its own charm and stories. The quiet morning hours made the visit even more special, allowing us to take in the beauty, history, and incredible details of the ancient architecture without the large crowds. A huge part of what made the tour so enjoyable was our guide, Mr. T. He was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about sharing the history of the temples. His explanations brought the sites to life, and he always made sure we were comfortable and having a great time. Overall, the sunrise tour was a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and awe-inspiring scenery. Highly recommended.

David was an excellent tour guide with some amazing knowledge, he had some great humour along the way and very entertaining, he was able to answer all our questions and spoke great English, had a great time being apart of David’s tour family!
