Breathtaking Java: Borobudur Sunrise, Merapi & Prambanan

Dani was amazing! He was so helpful the entire day, answering all of our questions, patiently taking our pictures, and kept us laughing the whole time! When we had a little time to spare he even took us to try local Buddhist monastery since we were interested. He made the day so fun and we had a great experience with him!

What a fabulous driver and tour guide Matthius is. Making it a day never to be forgotten. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Always polite and very informative about Indonesian culture from ancient history to the present day. An amazing experience to see Borobudur at sunrise and then the Prambanan temples. Highly recommend.

Matthias is very personable, helpful and accommodating. He took care of all the admin (tickets, etc...), made sure I had enough time to explore, was very flexible with pickup times. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a one-stop-shop of the main temple complexes around Yogyakarta.

Our driver, Matthias, was fantastic. He was accommodating, knowledgeable, and very easy to get along with. He also gave us various recommendations and tips on how to avoid scams and stay safe as a tourist in Yogyakarta. We really enjoyed the view of Borobudur at sunrise, the Borobudur tour itself, and Matthias’ tour around the Prambanan. The only reason that we didn’t give this 5/5 is because we did not enjoy our guide on the Merapi jeep tour at all. With that said, that is no fault of Matthias or his company. We strongly recommend requesting Matthias as a driver.

Great flexibility, the volcano was in a fog and rained over there, so the driver agreed to switch it to another temple. The whole trip felt comfortable, everything was my pace, breaks and going to the next attraction. The driver was punctual and informative about the trip. At the same time, he was not intrusive by talking all the time :). Much appreciated.

We had Arma as our driver from the company and it was a fantastic day. Arma arrived to pick us up and was waiting before our pick up time. He was very engaging and made good conversation between sites. He was knowledgeable on history of the sites we visited, was very kind and flexible and patient with us. When rain approached near the end of the day, he was flexible to help us get in a few more views before the rain really started. Many thanks to Arma for being a fantastic driver and guide for the day. Would highly recommend!

The main highlights are the buddhist (Borobudur) and hindu (Prambanan) temples, both are exquisite structures. Unfortunately on a Monday full access to the Prambanan temple is limited due to cleaning. The early morning visit to Borobudur was great with good photo opportunities. The driver Matt did a good job in handling the transfers to the various guides.

I had a truly lovely experience with my private guide, Mathias. He was very kind and shared thoughtful, honest insights about the culture of Yogyakarta in a way that felt both informative and warm. When I mentioned that I have a sensitive stomach, he even prepared water for me, which showed his great care and attention. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and comfortable throughout the day. Mathias is a considerate and trustworthy guide, and I would happily recommend him to anyone visiting Yogyakarta.

We had a great day! Visiting Unesco World heritage Temples Borobudur and Prambanan is an absolute must-see. We also enjoyed the jeep tour at Merapi vulcano as it was really impressive and fun. Deny took us to the spots safeley and gave us a lot of Information about the sites. We also stopped at a local coffee Shop where we tried some luwak coffee. He also habe is Great Food recomendations in Yogyakarta. Thanks to him!

Very well rounded and well organized full day trip which had everything, from nice views and must see sights, to a little bit of action in between, a lot of history, culture and religion, good food, and good conversations. Would absolutely recommend!
