Savor Thessaloniki: Unforgettable Market Food & Culture

We originally booked the Mt. Olympus and Dion trip and went up the mountain but the weather was very bad due to the storm so our Guide (Yllanis) had to cancel the rest of the trip. He was very kind and considerate to offer another free tour in the next days. Because of this we had to change plans and took the food tasting tour with Eleni. We have enjoyed the experience a lot. Both guides were very accommodating and has shared a lot of interesting facts about the history and culture of Thessaloniki. We are very happy with the service, we will definitely book again with this company if given the chance

Our guide Helen was amazing. She gave us the perfect mix of interesting history and culture alongside the descriptions of local food. It was a great way to tour the city with a local. I don't even love food but I loved this tour! I definitely recommend!

We enjoyed our food tour with Helen. She was knowledgeable and friendly! It was fun to walk around the markets and learn more about the history of food culture in Thessaloniki. There were a lot of sweets on the tour and we felt that there wasn't enough of a savory element. The description of the tour said we would get to try traditional pies, but sadly we did not. We have been on many food tours and we usually leave stuffed, but unfortunately after this tour we were still quite hungry as we had not eaten breakfast or lunch (only small snacks). We got to leave with some leftovers from the tour (grapes and olives and sweets) which was nice.

It was a very interesting and pleasant tour, the guide was a lovely lady who made sure I was at ease all the while. The food is exceptional and the market atmosphere rather unique.

The tour took just over 2 hours. it was a small group. There is a bit of walking but not excessive. The guide was friendly and informative and we were able to taste a mixture of local foods and beverages without being too much. Kinda like a Greek degustation menu.

This was the best way to see where the locals go and to taste what their eat! Loved the coffee house and learned that Turkish people spend 2 hrs at coffee!! I loved just sitting and chatting instead of taking my coffee out! Plus we found some great shopping areas to go to after the tour. The travel company were able to take us despite not having a guide. They called one in and we were ready to go!! The ship had to switch itineraries because of weather and it turned out to be a perfect day!!! Our guide was a sweetheart and I would recommend this to anyone who hasn’t done a walking tour!! Got some good tastings and great baragains!

Our guide was lovely and came in just for us when our amended date didn’t arrive to the tour operator. She gave us first class service and showed us thing we never would have seen. Loved the ‘real’ city life. Loved the markets and the taste testing. Just perfect. The travel company bent over backwards to accommodate us and they did.
