The Base Torres trek is one of the most popular group-guided tours available in Puerto Natales, a perfect alternative for travelers who only have one day to tour Torres del Paine but don’t want to miss the incredible views of the Mirador Base Torres. This tour is offered all year round. Even in winter, many travelers are encouraged to hike to the viewpoint (for winter tours, crampons are used to ensure the safety of the group of up to 15 people). In addition to transportation and mountain equipment, the tour includes a professional guide and an assistant, so all travelers will be accompanied, regardless of the speed at which you walk.

Wow!!! We were not expecting how difficult this hiking was going to be, however it was very rewarding once you reach the top. If you are an avid hiker it will take you 4 hours to reach the top. It took us 5 hours with no experience. Our guide was Pablo very knowledgeable that will help you stay on track. If it was up to us we would have stopped a lot making the trip longer. He was understanding of our limitations.

Amazing experience of Pantagonia. Our guide, Sebastian was great! He paced the group - enabling faster and slower hikers to enjoy all aspects of this day. A difficult hike in parts but worth every bit of it. The hike organization was well manage and communicated.

Pros * Good guides (Andres and Pablo) with excellent English, engaging personalities and good knowledge * Guides took good care of everyone, making sure they gave support to slowest walkers * Good length of walk (22km including an ascent and descent of 1000m) with kit (walking poles and mini crampons) provided * Great communication with day before and on the morning to arrange pick-up * Overall a professional trip, with Andres providing good leadership Cons * It is a long day (took us 14.5 hours door to door) - this is mostly unavoidable as the walk takes as long as the slowest person, which is fine. However, we stopped for too long at the end of the day at the car park cafe, getting beer when we could have been heading back to hotels so we could have dinner.

Leo and Claudia our tour guides are supportive about our activity. Safety is the priority. We have a good weather and the sky is clear although it’s windy. The experience is bit of hardwork and courage as you can encounter some challenges along the way. Reaching the base of Tores del Paines or even seeing halfway is rewarding.. I recommend this tour if you are physically fit and have courage. Well even halfway is already rewarding just like I did.

Daniel and Leo were wonderful guides. We unfortunately had very difficult weather and as a group decided it was too dangerous to summit. We dealt with wind, rain and lots of snow. However, the guides did their best to find different routes and lookouts for us to enjoy! They even let us stay at the lodges extra long and we enjoyed a few drinks. The tour was well planned, timely, good communication. They made sure we had the proper equipment ahead of time!

Great experience; the hike was definitely challenging, but our guides (Sebastian, Felipe and Leo) did a great job of managing the mixed pace. Definitely worth it, and I would highly recommend this.

We were picked up and dropped off by the Howlander team, Sebastian and Melissa. Both were charming and friendly and kept good check with us all. They pre-warned and advised us of the tough trek ahead and made sure were properly equipped, hydrated and ready for the 11km trek up and the 11km trek down. They kept us together throughout - there are lots of people on the trail so it’s easy to lose sight - and they took frequent breaks for anyone to rest and enjoy the beautiful sights especially at the very top. The team made the treat enjoyable and worth it. It is tough so do make sure you are fit and that you have the right gear. Do speak to the team before and during to make sure you’re ready to do it. Before the trek we had good engagement from Sebastián via WhatsApp. It was handy to be picked up - as we left at 6am - and to be dropped off in the afternoon. Thanks again to the Howlander team and our fellow participants. It was a great day out exploring Puerto Natales.
