Bora Bora Cartagena: Luxury Beach Club Paradise Escape

It was very nice, a much needed break from the busyness of the historic center. Well put together tour!

This was without a doubt the best day we had in Cartagena, thanks to everyone who worked on the Bona Vida. Super friendly people, lots of smiles, and great service. The water was perfect, the stops were amazing, and the food was delicious. We'll be back!

What I liked: (1) the beds were comfy and nicely shaded, (2) the vibes/ambience - music was good and the club didn't feel crowded, (3) there was a 45 min dance lesson at 11am which was led by competent instructors and was good fun, (4) the lunch was yummy - we had the fried whole tilapia. What I disliked: (1) the raucous welcome upon guests' arrival felt somewhat unnecessary, (2) the beach (if you could even call it that) was very small and virtually disappears during high tide; the sharp rocks/corals were painful to step on and the waters were at times choppy, (3) there was no shower, which is really odd for a beach club, (4) the boat ride back to Cartagena was very bumpy - the sea state is not their fault, but I hold it against them for making me sit at the bow of the boat where it was particularly bad (no one should be made to sit there). By the way, if you're considering an upgrade to the first-row beds or VIP area, I don't really see a need to do that.

My husband and I did this excursion on last day in Cartagena but was hesitant based on some of the reviews but we are so happy we took our chances. It was very relaxing experience and extremely organized. I am not sure why some of the reviews said the guide only spoke Spanish because that was not our experience because everything was said in both Spanish and English.

I’m very disappointed with my experience at Bora Bora today. There was a clear misunderstanding with our lunch, which was supposed to be included in the price we paid. Unfortunately, the staff were not helpful at all in resolving the issue. After much back and forth, we were left with a meal we did not order (pasta with a few pieces of seafood), and when it finally arrived, it was cold. What made the experience worse was the complete lack of effort from the team to find a solution or even acknowledge the mistake. It was a frustrating and disappointing way to spend our last day in Colombia, especially at a place that promotes itself as a premium experience. Overall it was an okay experience. Beds were nice but everything is upsold. Drinks and food are very pricey and you need to leave at 3. The photo attached is the “seafood pasta” we didn’t want

It was such a fun experience, everyone /staff was so friendly. Great energy, great vibes! Eonth was great and very attentive too! I would visit again.

I had a wonderful time on the island staff was accommodating the lunch was tasty and the water is the prettiest I've ever seen.

Tour was poorly organised, was not able to reach tour operator via message to clarify any details and instructions for meeting point were minimal and didn’t advise which gate at the boat dock we needed to go to (had to ask locals to find out exactly where we needed to go). The day we attended it was a little windy which meant the water that everyone can swim in was quite choppy and dangerous at some points, with no option to use the pool on the premises as that is reserved for hotel guests only (this was not advised to us prior to doing tour). If the day you are going it is going to be windy, you will be stuck just using the day bed all day without option for going into water - be aware. Service was very poor, we had our waiter introduce himself to us advising he would be looking after us - we were there for 6 hours and he came to us once. Every other time I had to chase up some staff to make an order and even then, multiple times had to ask a second time because they had forgot or never noted it down in first place. Included lunch was not bad, but we weren’t told that we had to go to a lunch area to redeem it, we were waiting on day beds until we noticed everyone else leaving. If you are English speaking they leave you in the dark a bit and you are left to figure things out yourself or ask other travellers that might be able to translate for you. The resort itself is nice, once you put aside the fact that service is poor and there is no pool to utilise, also that you have to walk past a garbage ridden island to get to in the first place. For the money that it cost to to simply attend this beach club, I don’t think it is worth it and money can be best spent elsewhere on Boca grande beach instead in Cartagena.
