Great half day tour incl Vatican museum, Sistine Chapel, Papal grotto, St Peter’s Basilica ending with the Dome climb. Maria was a great guide: engaging and interesting to listen to, knowledgeable and caring of each person’s needs. She needs to be acknowledged as one of the stand out tour guides on our holiday (and we have had a few!). Just the right amount of time and detail for our family of 4’a intro to the Vatican. Highly recommend.

Maria was phenomenal! She was knowledgeable about all the art and the history, she was engaging and fun to listen to. I could have listened to her talk about the basilica and museum all day. It was an early morning, but I would do it again in a heartbeat!

We had a great time going on our tour with Maria. She was very knowledgeable on her facts and being from Italy herself was able to give us personal perspectives from locals. You definitely need to be in shape to climb the Dome. If you can’t she accommodates well.

Sabrina was a fantastic tour guide- very easy to understand. She did a great job of finding places for us to pull over and enjoy each space without feeling rushed yet she kept the tour moving - hitting highlights without getting bogged down. Gave plenty of time for great photo ops and explained things well. Loved getting to see all parts of the basilica- tomb, main level and the dome climb was a highlight!! Earpiece at Vatican museums a little difficult for small kid ears. Earpieces for both places are only on one ear.

It is a long tour, with so much information - especially in the Vatican museums. But it is definitely worth it! The tour guide was very good - extremely knowledgeable. It is well worth doing a tour with a guide because there is so much to see and learn about. The Dome Climb is a hike, but the view from the top is worth it.

The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Enjoyed all her historical commentary on the museum and the cathedral. Worked her magic and we skipped the lines.

This tour was honestly just exhausting. Because it’s Jubilee year we spent over half of it standing in large crowds of people. I think this tour would be great if we were here during a non jubilee year. Our guide was knowledgeable and did the best she could given the large crowds we had no way of avoiding. However I think Viator should not be selling this as a small group “skip the line” tour during this Jubilee year especially. You will wait in a lot of lines and be with wall to wall people. Also would have been helpful to be told to bring water and potentially a snack. There were no opportunities to purchase anything at the Vatican until the end of the tour. Also the day before they changed the flow of our tour so we did the St Peter’s climb AFTER the entire Vatican and museum tour. You’re exhausted at this point and many of our tour mates opted out of doing the climb. We did it, but it would have been much better to have done this first thing vs 30 minutes before our tour was over. Overall this was our least favorite tour on the trip and is not worth it.

Tour was 2.5 hours over the allotted time. It started in the Vatican Museum and then ended up at the dome climb. Not what the itinerary explained. If you want to climb 5000 stairs to the top of the dome after you have stood on your feet for 4 hours, more power to you. The guide spent too much time talking. It was an hour and a half before we saw our first exhibit. Glanced over the Basilica which was the most important part. All in all, it just was too much time wasted and too long. However, what we ended up seeing was incredible and worth all the torture we experienced. Bring a water bottle and take bathroom breaks where ever you can. If they had actually given us a break between tour segments as described in the itinerary, it could have been much better. Ended up taking up an entire day for us in Rome! Our tour guide was incredible, but didn’t keep us on schedule. Not sure if it was the tour company or her, but in the end, we were absolutely exhausted, but got to see everything we signed up for.
