Royal Loire Valley: Castles, Wine & Paris Day Trip

Great tour. Especially liked seeing the castles decorated for Christmas. Matthew, the guide, was passionate about the history of the castles. The stories he shared brought life to the buildings. And the best part, the tour of each castle ends in the gift shop - who would have thought! Highly recommend this tour.

Philippe did an amazing job and had a delightful personality. He made the experience informative and fun. The castles were stunning and the grounds were beautiful. We loved the charming town of Amboise where we stopped for lunch. It was a memorable day all around.

The three beautiful castles were spectacularly decorated for Christmas. Julian our guide was personable and knowledgeable.

This trip is all about the castles. Saw 3 glorious castles with beautiful huge gardens. The guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. If your main goal is wine tasting, try a different tour. Highly recommend this as a castle tour.

This 'tour' is not really a tour, but is a driver from Paris to the Loire Valley and back, and entrance tickets to each chateaux (3 in total). There was very minimal history and info shared from our driver about the sites. And he could not enter the sites with us as he was not an official tour guide. Perhaps I missed it in the description, or should have assumed because the price was lower than other similar tours. It was just not what I expected so slightly disappointing. With that said, he was a good driver and I'm glad that we did not have to get to/from on our own. Each chateaux was amazing and I am so glad that we saw them all!

Pros: Our guide Julian was very knowledgeable about the 3 chateau we visited. He gave us information before entering, and then we were given a paper guide for the actual visit. We were able to use a Histopad in one of the Chateau, but not in Chambord. It probably would have been too time consuming to use one at Chambord. Cons: I was disappointed in the transportation- it was NOT a luxury passenger van (as advertised); It was a 9 person transit passenger van. Three of us were squished into the last row- which made it very uncomfortable as we spent at least 5 hours in the car.

This trip was worth every penny! Everything was perfect, our guide Karim was knowledgeable and gave us very interesting facts, and he was a genuinely nice person! We so appreciated his thoughts and tips on what we should see/notice at each stop. Day was a good pace, we didn’t feel rushed at all. Great experience!
