I have plenty of reasons to leave a review. All good reasons. The folks at Salkantay went above and beyond to make this experience top notch. When I fell ill, your team made sure I was cared for. Your team worked with me to modify my experience to make sure that I could fulfill my goal of ascending Machu Picchu. Reuniting and finishing the trek with my team meant the world to me. Thank You!

It was a really special experience! The hiking was challenging, mostly because of the altitude. But once you get used to it you‘ll be fine! And the views of humantay lake and salkantay mountain are totally worth it! The food was great thanks to our chef Eldert! He spoiled us alle the time with great and tasty food! Carlos the mountain King out Tour guide was there for us all the time, always looking after us, especially on the hardest Parts of the trek, like on Day two, where you go up to salkantay mountain. He also teached us about inka history and rituals along the way, which was very interesting!

We went for the 5 day Salkantay Trail and it was amazing. Everyday you were able to challenge yourself and get to know new limits. But thanks to Carlos the mountain king, our tour guide the vibes were always good and the motivation was high! He managed to motivate the group so much, that we had no quitters at all. But who thinks to do this for loosing weight is wrong! It also was a culinary journey! Edert our chef spoiled us with unbelievable tasty food and Camilo the horse man made sure our luggage was always safe and at the amazing accommodations before us.

The experience from Salkantay Trekking company is wholesome from the beginning to the end of the trip. In the very early stage of booking, a booking assistant was available 24/7 to answer questions, modify the booking and add extras to the itinerary (e.g. Huayna Picchu Ticket). We were baffled how well everything was organized until we came to Cusco. One day before the trip we had a briefing with our guide Franz. He prepared us well for the upcoming days, gave us tipps and recommendations what to pack, to buy etc. We had a very good feeling before the start and felt in good hands. The group size for us was 7 people, but this seems to vary depending of high/low season. The trip itself was again organized to absolute perfection, at no point I could say that there was room for improvement. Franz was leading us in an ideal manner, leaving enough room for individual pace along the way but also having an eye on the group. He took his time to tell us a lot about the region, the Inka culture and about the people in the area. My personal highlight was his talk about the Inka Religion on top of Salkantay Pass, which truly impressed me. The food and transport along the Trek was also high level. Every day there was a different variety of food brought to the table, which provided something for every taste. Thanks to head chef Mauro and his team for keeping us well-fed, and to horsemen Fernando who was carrying our luggage with his mules. The Trek itself is absolutely mind-blowing, we were lucky with the weather conditions and enjoyed sun/cloud most of the time, with almost no rain. The highlight at the end is of course Machu Picchu, which we were also guided through by Franz. Here again, his knowledge about the history and culture of the Inkas and the area is phenomenal. Overall, we absolutely enjoyed the trip and can only recommend the company for the organization and conduction. Go Choquechaca team! 😊

All the people from the team, our guide Franz, the chef Mauro & his co-chef as well as the horseman Fernando did a great job along the way delivering so much information about the Inka, Flora & Fauna as well as great great food & transportation of our stuff. Everything was coordinated super well - can definitely recommend Salkantay Trekking! Not to forget, the trek was so very beautiful!

We had an incredible experience on the Salkantay Trek thanks to our guide, Franz! From start to finish he was exceptionally well organised, professional, and genuinely cared about everyone in the group. He checked in on us constantly, especially with the altitude, and made sure no one ever felt rushed or left behind. The food was surprisingly amazing, fresh, generous, and perfectly fuelling for long hiking days. It was far beyond what we expected on a trek like this. Franz’s positivity, calm leadership, and attention to detail made the entire journey smooth and truly enjoyable. He created such a supportive group atmosphere and shared lots of local knowledge along the way, which added so much to the experience. We could not have asked for a better guide. If you are considering the Salkantay Trek, request Franz. You will not be disappointed.

Our tour guide was Saul. Very passionate when talking about Inka Culture and the roots for costume. Always prepared. Food, accommodations and overall organization was great. Some things weren’t perfect (first lodge did not have showers and was cold) but manageable. Food was amazing, very Peruvian.

Very Nice experience overall, but avoid going on the rain season. Rain could make some of the hikes more Dangerous and less enjoyable.
