Yehliu, Golden Waterfall, Jiufen, Shifen Day Tour

We did not visit the Golden Waterfall as that trip was cancelled and I was transferred to the mainstream one. I'd say we visited the Shifen waterfall, which was nice, although some 15-20 min walking one way from the parking. I found Shifen village uninteresting. Those lantern launches are for (dumb) tourists who don't care about the environmental impact of those lanterns ending up on fields and on trees. As tourists keep paying for this senseless service, tour operators will keep bringing them to Shifen. Apart from that, there's nothing to be seen or done in the village. Jiufen felt overcrowded and is not so amazing: the famous teahouse and a very long street with shops and stairs. The surrounding area looked beautiful but under pouring rain it was not easy to see a lot. The Yehliu geopark was beautiful, it's perhaps the only place I would go back to again. Our guide was a nice lady who provided useful information.

This tour is strongly recommended if you want to see many interesting and beautiful places in the coastal area in one day. They all are worth seeing, and it could be difficult and take a lot of time to do it by yourself. The tour provided sufficient time to explore the sites, and the guide was very helpful. Be prepared: these are popular, touristy sites, still good.

such a good and educational tour! the guide was very knowledgeable and helpful and the group was small which made the experience feel more personal and meaningful. could not recommend this experience enough. i felt like the time in each place was the perfect amount, i never felt rushed and i never felt bored! such an amazing tour to book!!

There were only 3 people on the tour so it felt very intimate in our own private taxi car the whole day. Our guide was the absolute best and she did a great job explaining some of the history behind the naming of the towns we visited. If you want a stress free day around Juifen and Shifen I highly recommend this tour.

Our guide Jimmy was wonderful. He confirmed via Whatsapp the day prior, and arrived at the meeting spot on time. It turns out there was only a few of us booked but the tour carried on anyway, which I appreciate as I know the tour company needs a minimum number of people to make it profitable. But this means it was essentially a private tour in a regular vehicle instead of a bus. The day was a little rainy at times but was still beautiful. Do be aware that walking around at YehLiu can be a little slippery as well as a large amount of stair steps at Juifen and the Shifen Waterfall. The entire tour is paced very well with some free time for shopping and food The Taiwan countryside is gorgeous, and these historic places are very interesting just an hour away from Taipei.

The tour was organized and the bus was comfortable. We enjoyed seeing so many sights in one day. The guide's heavily accented English did make it difficult to understand details about each of the attractions. Ordering food ahead from the guide was a mistake - there is plenty of time to buy snacks and drinks at the sites.

What a full day, but getting out of Taipei to see the northeast side of the island is really worth it. Kate with MyProGuide Tour was well organized, informative, and very helpful. Yehliu Geopark is so cool - go see the Queen’s Head before she is decapitated! Golden Waterfall was trickling, but the rust color from the minerals was neat to see. We had plenty of time at Jiufen Old Street to eat lunch and take in the views and shop. Shifen Waterfall is a smaller, Taiwanese version of Niagara. And Shifen Old street and sky lantern release was fun. Don’t hesitate, book this for your trip!

A few days before the tour, the operator let me know that not enough people booked this version with the Golden Waterfall, so I went on the tour without that stop. I had a fantastic time, and the guide, Lendl, was incredibly efficient. I've never been on a tour that adhered to the schedule before. The tour was timed really well so that we enjoyed Yehliu at the end of the day out of the heat of the sun. I felt the overall time at each location was appropriate. I would have liked to stay longer at Yehliu, but they close at 5. The ending at the night food market was perfect. The bus itself was very comfortable and the driver was great as well. A very well organized tour of fantastic places to visit. I would definitely recommend the tour and this provider.

Loved this day trip to northern taiwan. Our guide, Gabe, was excellent -- very knowledgeable and attentive, he shared many interesting insights about each stop. We saw the geo park, jiufen, and shifen, plus a couple other stops along the way to see waterfalls. Pace felt perfect. Highly recommend

Iris was the most wonderful guide I could have asked for, she was nice, kind, mindful and really helpful. She also explained a lot of the scenery for us and added historic facts and context to our trip. I will always book again for sure :)
